Ten years ago

be very fit. T cycled
work and
got

exercise at
weekends.

play tennis

long walks. In those days
didn't earn very much.

job
an office. It wasn't
very good job but
had

time

things
enjoyed doing.
Then, about eight years ago,
got
much better job. The pay was better. But
hours were
lot longer, too.

work every day.

take people out
lunch. 'Expense account' lunches. And
began
put
weight, too.
stopped playing tennis
going
long walks at
weekend because
just didn't have any time
things like that any more.
There's
lot
stress
a job like mine. Perhaps that's why
starred drinking more than
used to. For example,I used
have only half
glass
whisky when
got home, then
started filling
glass
the top. Then
had another glass ,
then another.
started smoking
lot , too.
never used
smoke at all.
Two months ago
had
heart attack. At first
just couldn't believe it. `I'm too young,'
said. Luckily
wasn't very serious.

tests. The doctor advised me
stop smoking and
eat less. He told me

keep my job. For example, he advised, me

get more exercise. But

It all started about two. years ago. Tn those days things were very different.
was overweight.

day.
never got any exercise.

stay at home all day:
never went out into
fresh air, except

shopping.. And even then

One day
looked at myself
the misror.'My God,'
thought. `I look terrible t'

found an old dress.I couldn't put
on. It was too small. Or rather,
was too fat! The next day

little. At first
was terrible.

short distance. And at ftrst people used
laugh at me.
`Why are you running? Are you
a hurry?' they shouted. But now I've completely changed
way i live. I've stopped reating meat
I've statted,eating far more fresh vegetables. My husband
daughter have started that, tdo. At first they didn't like
new food. But they've changed. About six months ago
sold my car
bought
bike. Recently I've started doing yoga exercises. My husband often goes cycling with me now
my daughter jogs with me
the evening. 'They've both lost weight
are much healthier than they used
be, too.
