Improve Your Study Habits

Maybe you are an average student with an average intellect.You pass most
your subjects. You occasionally get good grades, but they are usually just average. You are more interested
hiking than
history, and
sports than
scholarship. The fact
that you don't study very much.
You probably think you will never be
top student. This
not necessarily so, however. Anyone can become
better scholar if he or she wants to. It
true that you may not be enthusiastic about everything that you study, but by using your time properly you may improve your grades without additional work. Here's how :
. Plan your time carefully. When you plan
trip, one
the first things you must do
to make
list
things,
take. If you don't you are almost certain
leave something important at home. When you plan your week, you should make
list
things that you have
do. Otherwise, you may forget
leave enough time
complete an important task. After making
list, you should make
schedule
your time.
First fill
committed time-eating, sleeping, dressing, school, meeting, ete. Then decide
a good, regular time
studying. Be sure
set aside enough time
complete
work that, you are normally assigned each week. Of course , studying shouldn't occupy all
your free time. Don't forget
set aside enough time
entertainment, hobbies ,
maybe just relaxation. A weekly schedule may not solve all your problems, but
will force you
realize what
happening
your time.
2. Find
good place
study. Look around
house for
good study area. Keep this space , which may be
desk or simply
corner
your room, free
everything but study materials. No games, radios, or television! If you can't find such
place at home, find
library where you can study. When you sit down
work, concentrate
the subject! And don't go
the place you have chosen unless you are ready
study.
3. Scan before you read. This means looking
passage over quickly but thoroughly before you begin
read
more carefully.
Scanning
passage lets you preview
material
get
general idea
the content. This will actually allow you
skip less important material when you begin
read. Scanning will help you double your reading speed
improve your comprehension.
4. Make good use
your time
class. Take advantage
class time
listen
everything
teacher says. Sit where you can see
hear well. Really listening
class means less work later. Taking notes will help you remember what
teacher says. When
teacher gets off
subject, stop taking notes.
5. Study regularly. When you get home from class, go over your notes. Review
important points that your teacher mentioned
class. Read any related material
your textbook. If you know what your teacher
going
discuss
next day, scan
read that material, too. This will help you understand
next class. If you do these things regularly,
material will become more meaningful,
you will remember
longer.
6. Develop
good attitude about tests. The purpose
a test
to show what you have learned about
subject. The world won't end if you don't pass
test, so don't get overly worried. Tests do more than just provide grades; they let you know what you need
study more ,
they help make your new knowledge permanent.
There are other techniques that might help you with your studying. Only
handful have been mentioned here. You will probably discover many others after you have tried these.

ideas that come into your head.Remember that these should be notes-words or phrases-not sentences , which would slow you down. As you do this you will find that new ideas will come

one idea leads
another. This should not take more than ten minutes, for
an examination you have no time
waste.
If you have not yet decided
your main theme , you can do so now,
then
the main idea
each paragraph. You may have
rearrange your ideas,
decide which paragraphs they will fit into,
which ideas will be left out altogether.
It

decide how detailed your plan should be. If you are good at writing,
have had plenty
practice, probably only
few brief notes will be necessary, but if you are not, then you may require
more detailed plan. But remember that everi
best writers need
make some notes if they are going
produce
well-organized piece
writing. You will
course be given marks

mind cannot rest. Even
sleep you dream, even if you forget your dreams. The mind
always turning. It gets its relaxation only by variety. That
what makes mental rest.
When you've finished your optimum hourage you must stop. You must not then sit around
the chair thinking about
work-that only tires without any learning. You must get out
do something. It doesn't matter what-anything so long as you are actively doing something else but work.
