    Introduction
A    Some people find it’s very meaningfulbe kindthe youngcarethe old.  Americaa wealthy nation, buthas many problems like povertyloneliness.  So, many people volunteer their timehelp teach poor children, or they visit elderly people who are lonely.

George:  Well, it's not justgirl’s fault.  It's also society's fault - magazinesads that show wafer3 - thin models all saying “It's inbe thin”.  It's hardthem notlisten. 
Joanne:  True, but there are limits.  Being thinone thing; starving oneselfdeathanother.  No one forces themdo this.
George: know that, but sometimes it's hardmakeright decision.  And besides, anorexia4a psychological5 problem as well.  Anorexics never think that they are thin enough,they keep pushing themselves.
Joanne:  Well, they should do moretone down6 those messagestrypromotehealthier body image. It really hurts girls if they grow up thinking they're always too fat.
George: agree.

Sandy:  Nah, it'splace where homeless people goeat.

Sandy:  Well,minister8 at my church told us about it, andseemed interesting. thought I'd tryonce,ifdidn't likeI'd stop.
Jim:  So what do you do there? 
Sandy:  It's simple.  All we doprepare some food, usually sandwichessome fruit,giveoutthem atsoup kitchen.
Jim:  Yeah,sounds easy.  How long doestake?
Sandy:  Only about two hours, forcoupledaysmonth.  Why don't you givea try? 
Jim: don't know. mean,like helpingcommunityall that, butdon't know ifhavetime……
Sandy:  Come on, it's easy,it'll make you feel good.  Why don't you come with me tonight?
Jim: don't know……
Sandy: won't accept noan answer.  I'll pick you up at seven tonight.

Kate:  You mean that people look down upon you because they think you'reschool becausea quota3? That's not true at all; you're reallysmart guy.
Charles: know that, but some people don't think like that.  Andget problems from teachers as well.
Kate:  Teachers? didn't think that they would be racist4 at all. 
Charles:  Racist?  Not exactly.  It's how they look at measkmy opiniona topic, as ifcan speakall black peoplegive themblack opiniona subject.  Suddenlybecomerepresentative5the black race, as if we all hadsame opinion.
Kate: see.  It looks like there are stilllotissues we needwork onthe US.

Man:  Listen;really don't know why you're making this into suchbig issue.  It's onlysmall piecegarbagea large space.  It's not like there's garbage everywhere.  Besides, someone will come alongcleanup at some time or another.
Karen:  It's notcleaner's responsibilitypick up after lazy people.  It's partyour responsibilitymake sure thatplaceneatother people.  If everyone thought like you, there'd be garbage everywhere!  The cleaners can't be everywhere! 
Man:  Ok, whatever.  See, I'm putting itthe garbage can.
Karen:  Hold on, that's an item.  You should put thatthe recycle9 bin nextthe trashcan.
Man:  Recycle bin?  Garbagegarbage! 
Karen:  No,isn't.  There are many times we can take what we've usedreuse it.  It saves from havinguse new materials, andcreates less garbage.
Man:   Ok, ok.  I'll do whatever you want as long as you get off my back20.
